Ayurveda formulates the theory of 3 doshas. This is Vata, Pitta and Kapha. According to the name, they show the specific status of the five Mahabhutas in the Food too

Food can increase or decrease Vata, pitta and kapha. Ayurveda believes that even in food items, the characteristics of the five great elements(Mahabhutas) are present.

According to Ayurveda, Foods whose nature is more towards Vata dosha has cooling effect. Which means, after eating that food, the body gets coolness.

Foods containing pitta dosha controls the vata and kapha dosha in the body but can aggravate pitta dosha. The person may have to face problems like nervousness, restlessness, heartburn, diarrhea.

Foods loaded with the nature of Kapha dosha balance the excess of Vata dosha in the body.These type of food for Vata and Pitta body bur harmful for Kapha nature body. Such foods should be eaten very carefully if your body is already Kapha body
